Holidays in real life
Part of the fun of holidays is the planning, the looking at maps and guides, the speculation. Then comes the real thing. It's the same for us as we work year-round on Spring Harvest Holidays. We plan, we prepare, we invest. Then comes the real thing.
It's great that the season is well and truly under way at Le Pas Opton. Chris and Laura are properly established now and we've seen the busy weeks around half term come and go. Our shiny new 3 bedroom Evergreen mobile homes are installed and guests seem to like them. The refurbished shower block is fully operational - even if you're staying in a mobile home this summer, you'll be tempted to give it a try.
Right now our friends Ian and Gill Scott are hosting the "Discover the Vendee" week with John Richardson speaking. Local excursions, restaurant visits, even a trip to the brocante* is on the agenda. A new initiative for this year which is proving popular is Chris's free wine tasting session at the "Cave a Vins" (aka the shop). Chris simply opens a few bottles of wine from the shop stock and hosts a tasting session - with guidance notes and advice. Perfect for picking those wines to take home.
There are still a few brand new mobile homes - the Evergreen 2s - to be installed and this will happen with the help of a BIG crane in the next 7-10 days. We'll keep disruption to a minimum as deliveries come into the field at the side of the site so the main thoroughfares are unaffected.
Finally, the weather at LPO has been great for several weeks now - I trust it will continue so all summer!
*What's a brocante you ask? A uniquely French antique/junk shop/bric a brac place where you can pick up delightfully French furniture and stuff for your home, whether that's in France or the UK.
